Last February 2025, anonymous inspectors of the MICHELIN Guide arrived in the Philippines to begin their culinary journey in uncovering the country’s most remarkable dining destinations. The MICHELIN Guide Manila and Environs | Cebu 2026 was launched on October 30, 2025, in a one-day celebration held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City. The launch of the MICHELIN Guide in the Philippines marks more than just a recognition of culinary excellence, it serves as a global platform for showcasing Filipino talent and the Philippines’ rising prominence on the world’s culinary stage.
Brothers Andre and Edouard Michelin founded their tire company with a vision to advance the French automobile industry. To encourage travel and in turn, tire sales, they created a guide offering motorists useful information such as maps, petrol stations, and lodging or dining options. Over time, their restaurant listings grew traction and became a standout, leading the brothers to hire a team of mystery diners to visit and review restaurants anonymously. This marked the beginning of the prestigious MICHELIN Guide as we know it today.
The MICHELIN Guide Ceremony was a momentous occasion recognizing the remarkable talents of Filipino chefs and restaurateurs. For the first time ever, restaurants in the Philippines were awarded their long-awaited MICHELIN Stars with one restaurant earning the prestigious Two MICHELIN Stars, eight restaurants receiving One MICHELIN Star, 25 Bib Gourmand distinctions (awarded to restaurants offering high quality, good value cooking, at a reasonable price), and 74 MICHELIN Selected restaurants recognized for their outstanding culinary standards.

It was a tribute to the true stars of the kitchen: the chefs from MICHELIN Guide recognized restaurants and the exceptional tools that help bring their culinary visions to life. The evening was a celebration of camaraderie, honoring the culinary arts and the boundless talent of Filipino Chefs.
