Kitchen Design Contest 2017-2018

For more than 25 years and 12 exciting contests, trade professionals across the globe have competed in the Kitchen Design Contest, creating kitchens that are beautiful beyond compare. Today, Sub-Zero and Wolf are excited to announce that the 2017-2018 Kitchen Design Contest is now open!

The Kitchen Design Contest is a great opportunity for Sub-Zero and Wolf’s partners in the trade to showcase their best work, designs, and vision to fellow architects and designers from around the world. It’s a platform where they can create powerful connections and elevate their career with the best of the best in kitchen design.

The Philippines has won thrice in a row in the past years. IDr. Cara Marcelo won the International Category Award for Best Kitchen Design in the 2004-2005 Kitchen Design Contest, while Arch. Ed Calma brought it home in the 2006-2007 and 2008-2009. He also won the First Place Award for Contemporary Kitchen in 2008-2009.

This year, professional kitchen designers, architects, interior designers, builders, remodelers, landscape designers, and landscape architects from the Philippines can once again showcase their best work, and receive the recognition they deserve. Entry is free, the rules are simple, and contestants are given until January 31, 2019 (by 6:59 p.m. Central Time) to submit their work. Each contestant may submit more than one qualifying entry at https://www.subzero-wolf.com/contest for projects designed and completed in 2017-2018.

The judging panel shall consist of seven esteemed professionals from the architectural, interior design, and kitchen design disciplines from around the world. The judges will evaluate all qualifying entries on the following criteria:

Best function and aesthetic use of Sub-Zero and Wolf brand appliances

Aesthetically-pleasing overall kitchen design

Functionality of overall kitchen design

The Top 29 finalists will be announced in Spring (March-May) 2019. They will receive $2,000 each and a trip for two to the Winners’ Summit & Gala in the USA, where the global contest winners will be announced.

Sub-Zero and Wolf will award a generous amount of cash prizes to the winners of the following categories:

Indoor Kitchen ($120,000 worth of prizes for Contemporary, Transitional, and Traditional Kitchen Designs)

Larger than 175 square feet

Must have at least one built-in or integrated Sub-Zero refrigeration or two or more undercounter Sub-Zero units, and no full-size competitive refrigeration units

Must have at least one Wolf cooking appliance as primary food preparation; ranges, rangetops, ovens, cooktops, or two or more modules meet this requirement.

Small Space Kitchen ($5,000)

175 square feet or less

Must have at least one built-in or integrated Sub-Zero refrigeration or two or more undercounter Sub-Zero units, and no full-size competitive refrigeration units

Must have at least one Wolf cooking appliance as primary food preparation; ranges, rangetops, ovens, cooktops, or two or more modules meet this requirement

Beyond the Kitchen ($5,000)

Must have at least one Sub-Zero and Wolf unit in one room or designated space; ventilation does not meet this requirement

The space cannot be designated as a primary kitchen, secondary kitchen, pantry, scullery, or outdoor kitchen. Examples of qualifying spaces include but are not limited to a pool house, bathroom, home office, etc.

Outdoor Kitchen ($10,000)

Must have at least one Sub-Zero refrigeration unit

Must have at least one Wolf outdoor grill; side burners do not meet this requirement

First Time Entry ($5,000)

Must meet entry requirements for one of the other professional categories

Since its inception in 1993, the Sub-Zero and Wolf Kitchen Design Contest has become a coveted win in the professional home design category. The Kitchen Design Contest recognizes kitchen designers, architects, interior designers, builders, remodelers, landscape designers, and landscape architects for advancing outstanding kitchen design.
